When eating the fish you have recently caught you should be cautious of eating raw or undercooked fish, like sushi. If you do happen to have sushi or a different undercooked fish then you have a chance of ingesting the Anisakid Nematode. This type of parasite causes the disease, Anisakiasis. The symptoms of this disease include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Because of the fact these symptoms are quite common, this disease is often misdiagnosed as appendicitis, acute abdomen, stomach ulcers, or ileitis. If you do manage to get this disease don't worry, people typically recover from this with little evidence of ever having this disease. Although if the parasite makes it past your stomach and into your intestine, omentum, liver, pancreas, or most likely your lungs then you may have to go into surgery to remove the parasites.
